Cash For Refrigerators

The new stimulus package is here… Cash For Fridges. Cash For Clunkers was such a success the United States government created the program for household appliances. The Cash For Fridges program is just not for refrigerators, it will be offered for washers, dryers and dish washers. Only appliances with the Energy Star logo qualify. The rebate will be $50 to $200 and the government has authorized $300 million for the Cash For Fridges program. The details of the plan are still being worked out and you will have to come back to CashForFridges.org for updates.

The Cash For Fridges program is modeled after the overwhelmingly success Cash For Clunkers. Cash For Clunkers was expected to run into November, but after the first weekend it already ran through the 1 billion dollars first allocated. Congress with a winner on their hands extended the program another 2 billion making the total 3 billion for the Cash For Clunkers program.  The program is now over because it has run out of money.  There are a few complaints about the program from dealers being upset because of the delay in receiving the cash from the government. The Cash For Fridges program hopes on doing the same with home appliances.

The idea behind Cash For Fridges is to increase lagging sales in the home appliance market and help the enviroment by removing old out dated appliances.  Major manufactures like Whirlpool have been hit hard by the depression.  Cash For Fridges is predicted to help these companies, but the outlook is not good.  The program should give them a good bump in sales and help keep more people employed.  Comsumers will not have to exchange their old refigerators like the Cash For Clunkers program.
